About this notice
UK Barre Academy (UBA) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting personal information about people who visit our website, enquire about training, book courses or take part in our instructor development programmes. This notice explains how we collect, use, share and protect that information under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Who is responsible for your information
UK Barre Academy is responsible for the personal information described in this notice. For privacy enquiries or requests, email hello@ukbarreacademy.com.
Information we collect
Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect: your name, email address, telephone number and other contact details; enquiries and communications; professional qualifications and relevant teaching experience; course bookings, attendance, payment status and transaction records (not full payment-card details); learning and assessment records, including submitted teaching videos; feedback, reviews and testimonials; and photographs or videos where permission has been obtained. We may also receive health or accessibility information you choose to share so that we can consider reasonable adjustments and support safe participation.
How we obtain information
We receive information directly from you when you complete forms, book training, contact us, submit assessments or provide feedback. Some information may come from booking, payment or website service providers. Our website may also collect technical and cookie-related information, as explained below.
Why we use information and our lawful bases
We use personal information to answer enquiries, assess course eligibility, administer bookings, deliver training, provide learner support, manage assessments and issue certificates. These activities are generally necessary to take steps at your request or perform a contract with you. We use records for accounting, tax, safeguarding and other legal obligations where applicable. We may use limited information to improve training, manage quality assurance, prevent misuse and protect our business where we have a legitimate interest that is not overridden by your rights. We send promotional messages only where we have an appropriate lawful basis, including consent where required. Where we need to process special-category information, such as health details, we will identify an additional lawful condition, such as explicit consent where appropriate, and limit access to those who need it.
Payments and booking services
If you pay for a course online, a third-party payment or booking service may process your payment information under its own privacy notice. UBA generally receives booking, payment-status and transaction information needed to administer the booking. Online payments are processed by Stripe, and expressions of interest are collected through Typeform. Each processes information under its own privacy notice.
Who we share information with
Where necessary, we may share relevant information with tutors, assessors, training venues, IT and website providers, booking and payment processors, professional advisers, insurers, and appropriate accreditation or endorsement bodies for legitimate training and verification purposes. We may also disclose information when required by law or to protect someone from serious harm. We do not sell personal information.
International transfers
Some service providers may process information outside the UK. Where this occurs, we will use an appropriate lawful transfer mechanism and safeguards where required.
How long we keep information
We keep personal information only for as long as necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, including course administration, certificate verification, legal obligations and resolving disputes. Financial records are generally kept for the period required by applicable tax and accounting law. Training and certification records may be retained longer where reasonably needed to verify awards.
Marketing and reviews
You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the unsubscribe link or by contacting us. We will not use your name, identifiable image, assessment video or testimonial for public marketing without an appropriate permission or other lawful basis. You may withdraw consent where consent is the lawful basis; this will not affect processing carried out before withdrawal.
Website cookies
Our website does not use analytics or marketing cookies. It loads fonts from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address so the fonts can be delivered to your browser. Stripe may set cookies that are essential to process payments securely when you go to checkout. If we introduce non-essential cookies in future, we will ask for your consent before setting them and update this notice.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances and applicable law, you may ask to access or correct your information, request deletion or restriction, object to processing, request data portability, or withdraw consent. To make a request, contact hello@ukbarreacademy.com. We may need to verify your identity and may be required to retain certain information despite a request.
Complaints about personal data
If you have a privacy concern, please contact us first so we can investigate. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK data protection regulator, at https://ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint/.
Security and changes
We take proportionate organisational and technical steps to protect personal information and limit access to authorised people. We may update this notice as our services or legal obligations change. The latest version will be published on our website.
